Iga Swiatek surprisingly lost to Barbora Krejcikova in the 2023 Dubai Championships final and she blamed her inability to find a good rhythm for the defeat.
Krejcikova defeated Swiatek for the second time in a row as both wins came in the finals - Ostrava last year and now Dubai with both matches featuring the Polish player struggling to find a very good rhythm. She confirmed it after the loss in Dubai.
I couldn't find the rhythm, it was a lot different than the last couple of rounds. I don't know if that's my fault or Barbora made that situation, but for sure she used it and played pretty smart. So congrats to her for winning the title.
Swiatek wouldn't commit to saying what was the difference in the matchup because she needs to do a deep dive and analyze what happened.
From my side, I still need to analyze what I've done wrong, because it surprises me that there's such a difference in the feeling you get on court over a day, you know. So for sure I'm going to focus on that and look at it from a different perspective to understand it more. Right now, it's hard for me to say what made the difference.
