Novak Djokovic will play in Dubai, and so will Daniil Medvedev, with the Russian looking forward to meeting the Serbian on the court.
It's been a while since Djokovic and Medvedev last met on the ATP Tour, as their last match was at the 2022 ATP Finals. It was a close three-set round-robin match, but the Serbian emerged victorious, beating Medvedev 6-3, 6-7(5), 7-6(2).
It was a close match overall, but the Serbian was able to leave the court as the happier player, and Medvedev would not mind a rematch between the two at the upcoming Dubai Championships, where both of them will compete.
"If I want to reach Novak, probably what you say is semis, it's a great challenge because Novak barely loses matches. So there is a big chance he's going to be in the semi unless someone plays the match of his life and manage to beat him."
Medvedev had a great week at the Qatar Open in Doha, reaching the final and beating Andy Murray in the final of the ATP 500 tournament.
Now, he will play against Matteo Arnaldi in the first round of the Dubai Championships, and he understands that every match will be tough because it's a big event with a lot of great players in the draw, ready to challenge big players like him, as he's the former World No. 1.
"Yeah, I want to say every match is going to be difficult. Again, I don't know who I play the first round. I have to take it match by match. Dubai is a very strong tournament, so big challenge to come from here and play there."
"I'm going to try to be 100% physically, because that's the most important. If you're not, it's tough to beat anyone, and that's what I'm going to try to do."
