Iga Swiatek concluded an amazing week at the 2023 Qatar Open in Doha with another brilliant performance in the final, beating Jessica Pegula, and she was happy about it afterward.

It was a record-setting week for Swiatek, as she won the WTA 500 event with the least amount of games lost. She also defended her trophy by going back-to-back in Doha, which is a special feat as well.

It was just a dominant display from the Polish player, who bageled all three of her opponents. First, she beat Danielle Collins 6-0, 6-1, then she repeated the result against Veronika Kudermetova, and she bested Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-0.

During her speech after beating Pegula, Swiatek admitted that the wins in Doha gave her a lot of confidence, which she will want to take with her to the following events on the WTA Tour.

"I'm really happy that I could kind of find more balance, comparing to how I felt at the beginning of the season. I think this tournament is going to give me a lot of confidence, but still, I want to take everything step by step. I'm just really happy that I could win this match today."

Winning the final match took a lot from Swiatek because she had already played and lost to Pegula that year. It required a lot of focus, and she was to play a match fully focused from start to finish, which the scoreline reflected.

"Every game I was really focused, and that's the thing I'm most happy about, because at the beginning of the season I felt like my mind was kind of flying away sometimes."
"But here, the work we have put in with my coach on court and with Daria off the court, for sure, it just paid off, and I felt like everything is clicking."
