Iga Swiatek destroyed yet another opponent, and most probably, she will never win a tournament in a more dominant style than she won the 2023 Qatar Open in Doha.
The young Pole entered the 2023 Qatar Open as the first-seeded player and a defending champion. On her way to the final, she lost only two games, as she defeated Danielle Collins and Veronika Kudermetova, while Belinda Bencic withdrew from their quarter-final clash.
It was an incredible feat, as Swiatek didn't have to play two rounds at all, and in the other two that she played, she won while losing only one game, first beating Collins 6-0, 6-1, and then matching that win with the same scoreline against Kudermetova.
In the final, the WTA World No. 1 player took on the second-seeded Jessica Pegula, who also played a very good tournament and eliminated the likes of Jelena Ostapenko and Maria Sakkari en route to the final.
However, even though the American player was the second highest-ranked player at the event behind Swiate, and despite her best efforts, she wasn't able to match the level of intensity and accuracy that Swiatek was able to produce.
Once again, Swiatek showed her incredible dominance and also destroyed her final opponent. In the first set, the 21-year-old struggled on her serve, being broken twice.
Yet, she broke her opponent three times, and that was enough to win the first set 6-3 in just 38 minutes. Swiatek was even more dominant in the second set.
She immediately broke Pegula's serve, and after two more holds and two more breaks, she was serving to win the tournament at 5-0 in the second set.
Confirming her dominance, Swiatek won the match 6-3, 6-0 in an hour and five minutes, while losing only 5 games on her way to the 2023 Qatar Open title.
