'Frustrating': Andreescu On Waiting Two Days To Complete First Match At Wimbledon

Bianca Andreescu was one of the players badly affected by the rain delays at Wimbledon as she only played her first-round match on Day Four of the event.

Andreescu technically should have played her 2nd round match on Thursday but ultimately she played only her round 1 match. It came as a direct consequence of the signature British weather with showers that prevented play from going on on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Another thing that affected it was the curious choices made by the organizers having some 2nd round matches played before 1st round matches were even played. Andreescu was one of the players that were yet to play her 1st round match while some players were playing 2nd round matches.

Those choices created a lot of problems for organizers as they had to push back matches because it would have created an unfair advantage to players. Alcaraz's match was pushed back to Friday because none of his potential 3rd round opponents had played their 1st round match yet.

When it comes to Andreescu, she had a chance to hit a bit while waiting for her chance to play but all in all, there wasn't much tennis for her. It didn't hurt her as she managed to win her 1st round match against Anna Bondar in three sets and speaking after the match, Andreescu voiced her frustration.

Yeah, I hit a total of 45 minutes between those two days. I was able to hit indoor the first day. Well, the day I was supposed to play initially. Then I was able to get 20 minutes on the grass.

It's definitely very frustrating having to wait around, especially when other players are in Round 3. But it is what it is. That's life right now for many of us. So I'm just trying to control the controllables. And those things I can't control, as of now, until I'm seeded again (smiling). It will be very soon.

After not playing for 3 days, Andreescu will play her second match in two days because of the schedule. Plenty of tennis incoming.
