The 2022 ESPY's were held in Los Angeles and Emma Raducanu and Rafael Nadal were chosen as the winners among tennis nominees.
Emma Raducanu was nominated in the Best Athlete, Women’s Tennis ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) category and she was able to get the award ahead of Ashleigh Barty, Iga Swiatek and Leylah Fernandez. The British player made history last year at the US Open winning the event as a qualifier. She also did it without dropping a set en route to the trophy.
Nadal was nominated alongside Dylan Alcott, Carlos Alcaraz and Felix Auger-Aliassime for the Best Athlete, Men’s Tennis ESPY Award. Just like Raducanu, he was declared the winner among some stellar competition for everything he did in the past couple of months.
This was the 3rd time Nadal won the award as he won it in 2011 and 2014. That's well short of Federer's nine and Djokovic's 5. Serena Williams has 10 ESPY's to her name.
