Currently, there is no man that won more Grand Slam trophies than Rafael Nadal and Andrey Rublev is aware of the greatness of the Spaniard.
The GOAT Race, also known as the Grand Slam race among male tennis player, is a highly subjective topic. Since there's very little between them when it comes to all of the tournaments on the ATP Tour, many fans singled out the debate only to Grand Slam titles won.
Currently, Roger Federer has 20 majors, Novak Djokovic won 21 times at a Grand Slam tournament, and Rafael Nadal is the only man who has won 22 Grand Slam titles in his career.
Andrey Rublev and Rafael Nadal met three times and despite losing the previous two matches on hard courts without winning a set, the Russian defeated the 22-time Grand Slam champion on clay in Monte Carlo last year.
In a recent video, Rublev got asked about Nadal and his trophies at the Roland Garros. When asked how is it possible that the Spaniard triumphed so many times on the same court, he answered:
"He's mental. The best athlete of all time in all disciplines."
Winning 14 trophies at a single tournament may technically be done in the future, as it may not be that challenging to win the same tournament so many times if it's an ATP 250 or ATP 500 tournament, as Nadal showed in Barcelona and Federer did the same in Basel.
However, when it comes to Grand Slam tournaments, it's very likely that no one will ever be able to win the same tournament 14 times, and that's exactly what the Spaniard did in his career, and that's also one of the reasons why Rublev called him the best of all time.
Novak Djokovic will certainly want to have his say in that, and only time will tell whether he will.
