'Don't Think It Would Be Wise Not To Prioritize That': Swiatek On Targeting 2024 Olympics

Iga Swiatek has calmed down fans by admitting that next year's Olympic Games in Paris are clearly a priority for her.

The Polish player played at the Olympic Games in Tokyo but couldn't get her hands on a medal. While her participation in country representation has been minimal since then, the Polish player clearly eyes the Olympics next year.

There are plenty of reasons for that, mostly because it's always been her dream to win a medal for her country. These upcoming games being played on clay gives Swiatek a unique chance, especially since it's going to be played on courts where she's been dominant so far in her career on the WTA Tour.

She's won Roland Garros three times already, so she should be a top favourite if she remains healthy. In an interview with Przegląd Sportowy Onet, the young Pole talked about the upcoming season and her goals.

To be honest, we haven't really thought about it at all. Obviously, the Olympics will be a priority. I don't think it would be wise not to prioritize it, so we'll see.

I really want to play as much as possible in front of the Polish audience. Sometimes this is not possible due to the calendar. Next year with the Olympics even more so. I just planned the end of the season with the coach, so I don't know.

Swiatek is likely to play both singles and doubles. Hubert Hurkacz kind of confirmed the mixed doubles already, and Swiatek commented on that as well. She doesn't know what to expect from it, but they showed their chemistry at the United Cup earlier this year.

Mix is such a specific game that I wouldn't look at the rankings or the favourites here. You have to fight for every match here, these pairs are so well-matched, with doubles experience, that regardless of whether we are favorites or not, we have to play our best. It doesn't change anything.
