Coco Gauff has done it, the still teenager won the biggest trophy of her career on home soil in Washington by beating Maria Sakkari in the Citi Open final.

It was a pretty straightforward match from Coco Gauff, who finally won a trophy that doesn't belong to the 250 category. The Citi Open is a WTA 500 event, and with that, it's the biggest trophy the tennis phenom has won so far in her career.

A superb week was finished off in the best possible way for Gauff, who produced a really strong effort to take down Maria Sakkari in the final. The Greek player had a stunning week in her own right, beating the likes of Jessica Pegula en route to the final.

The final thought wasn't that good, or at least not good enough to beat Gauff who was A-mazing. Set number one saw Gauff frustrate her opponent with her speed moving around the court well and easily catching all the balls Sakkari sent.

That, coupled with the ability to play rather aggressively, allowed Gauff to frustrate Sakkari on both her first and second serve, and that's always going to be trouble. She won the set 6-3 but saw herself struggle against Sakkari at the start of the second set.

Despite being up a break twice in that set, Sakkari never really broke down the spirit of Gauff who kept coming and coming correctly predicting that Sakkari would crumble under the pressure. It worked out well as the Greek truly crumbled, losing the final few games rather quickly to allow the American to lift the trophy on native soil.

The final score was 6-2, 6-3 for the American, who won a trophy in the first week with Brad Gilbert on the team. When it comes to Sakkari, she laughed off a suggestion that she struggles in semi-finals and finals before the final, and this one didn't help.
