Boris Becker left Holger Rune's team recently, and many wonder if he could join Alexander Zverev's team and the German player shared his thoughts on the prospect.
Zverev and Becker know each other very well due to both being German and crossing paths often on the ATP Tour. Becker also worked in the German Tennis Federation and worked with Zverev during Germany's Davis Cup matches.
Both explained the experience as positive. More personally, Becker has been a longtime admirer of Zverev and heaped praise on him often in German media.
Some of those connecting dots thought that the 56-year-old could possibly join the 2020 US Open runner-up's team after recently parting ways with Rune. The recent split with Rune was sudden and shocking to many.
It's mostly because the partnership was seemingly working really well, at least according to Rune's words. Well, we don't know what will happen with Becker, but the German Press Agency asked Alexander Zverev about his possible involvement, and he neither confirmed nor denied it.
"The chance is always there, always has been. But if you think about bringing in someone like Boris, it's to win the big tournaments. And of course the coach has to be there at the big tournaments."
There is a possibility that the two would join forces through summer for Roland Garros and the Olympics because Becker could certainly take on a role with the German Olympic Team. However, Zverev pointed out one crucial thing, and that's that the coach has to have enough time to spend with him.
"Just looking into their brain and seeing what they think about and how they acted in such situations can always help you. You can always learn something new, so I won’t be stubborn and say: I know everything."
