Sinner Looking To Learn From Other Athletes During His Maiden Olympics Experience

by Zachary Wimer

Jannik Sinner never played at the Olympic Games, so he's really looking forward to playing at the event later this year.

The Olympics are the dream of any athlete. Athletes work their whole life for that to find themselves competing against the best in their sport. On top of that, if they manage to win a medal, it probably can't get better than that.

Sinner never had the chance to experience that, as he didn't play in Japan the last time the Olympics were held. Most likely, he will play this year, as he's among the leaders in the Olympics Race, and the Games are held in Paris on courts he knows well.

It's not the best court for him because he had some struggles with it in the past. He lost early last year at Roland Garros, so avoiding that will be crucial. He was asked about the Olympics at the Rotterdam Open, where he already reached the semifinals, and explained what makes the Games special for him.

"I believe that every athlete has a different vision. For me, there is the fact that you play every four years so the chance to win a medal, no matter what kind, has a different weight. It’s important, just being part of that event is an opportunity because you get to know new athletes, all the best in the world."

Sinner on the Olympics

For Sinner, it will be an opportunity to get to know some of the top athletes in the Olympic Village and possibly learn from them. As good as he is, he is always looking for more, hoping to learn and become a better player, and this will be a good chance to do so.

"I can’t wait to at least try to get to know some athletes and ask them some things, even on the mental aspect because it can help you. There are plenty of them, we’ll see what opportunities I have there."
