As Novak Djokovic continues to chase greatness, he looks to other inspiring stories for inspiration as if his own drive wasn't enough.
Novak Djokovic is, for many, the greatest tennis player of all time already, but he's not satisfied yet. He wants more trophies and records, which he has admitted to many times.
He never shied away from openly stating that he was chasing records, which some of his contemporaries vehemently denied. Part of that chase is simply the fact that he can.
He's 36, and yet he's arguably the best player in the world with no signs of slowing down. When you're in that position, stopping seems ludicrous. Why would you? You're winning, and you're winning comfortably.
Something similar happened to Tom Brady, the undisputed NFL GOAT. Like Djokovic, he too was dominant as he aged and simply continued playing when some expected him not to.
He even won away from New England, further cementing his legacy. The Serbian looks to the story as inspiration.
Why stop when you are still playing great? So I will keep going. I know (Tom Brady) personally as well, and I learnt from him, from his example, and, hopefully, I can have a career that goes up to 40 and maybe even beyond, let's see.
Very few people actually doubt his words and could certainly see him play for a few years. If he keeps this level for 2-3 more years, he might just create a resume that will never be surpassed.
Some think he's already there, and it's hard to argue against it. He feels good, and as long as he does, he'll keep going.
I feel great in my own body right now, and I have been playing some really high quality tennis. 2023 was one of my best seasons I've had in my life, and why stop while you're still playing great. I will take it one by one and see how far I go.
