Vonn Proclaims Djokovic As GOAT Just Weeks From Federer Controversy

| by Nurein Ahmed

Former American alpine skier Lindsey Vonn recently caught up with World No. 1 Novak Djokovic while touring in Las Vegas and had nothing but special praise for the tennis legend.

Vonn, a legend in her own right, is a four-time World Cup winner, the third most amongst female alpine skiers. The 39-year-old was an attendee during the blockbuster exhibition match featuring Rafael Nadal against Carlos Alcaraz at the Netflix Slam, which was won by the World No.2.

The 39-year-old stirred up controversy in recent weeks with a social media post terming Roger Federer as the "forever GOAT," which, in truth, was not kindly received by fans of Novak Djokovic. Vonn also showered Federer with a long list of praises and called him a "true sportsman."

Vonn's opinion, while entitled, drew flak on the internet and was attacked by fans, mostly Djokovic's, for her comments. The American clarified she wasn't inciting a GOAT debate or making comparisons on who was the better player between Federer and Djokovic - considered among the best in history.

But a recent post should extinguish the fury from irate Djokovic fans as the Serbian star and Vonn shared a jovial impromptu meeting while in Las Vegas, which the retired skier shared on her official X handle.

Vonn also proclaimed the 24-time major champion the GOAT with a goat emoji, adding that "there can be more than one." Their photo was captured while Djokovic was within the practice courts preparing to play the Indian Wells Masters that begins on Mach 6th.

"Hanging with the GOAT, and yes, I do believe he is the goat. Contrary to twitter beliefs, I think there can be more than one. But @DjokerNole holds the records and I have nothing but respect for what he’s achieved… and he skis!"

Vonn posted on her official X account (formerly Twitter)
