The ATP Tour's victors last week were Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic, although only the American advanced in the rankings.
He rose to eighth in the rankings after winning in Tokyo as the triumph earned him 500 ATP points. It's the first time Fritz has entered the top 10, as he now stares at Novak Djokovic who remained number seven with about an 800-point difference.
Djokovic gained 500 points from winning the Astana Open, which increased his total but did not advance him in the rankings. The fact that Djokovic moved up to position 10 in the singles race is more significant for him since he needs to finish in the top 20 to be eligible to play in Turin.
Carlos Alcaraz is still number one leading Nadal by about 1000 points with Ruud, Medvedev and Tsitsipas rounding out the top 5. Zverev left the top 5 as he continues to slide due to inactivity from his ankle injury. Other top 10 changes including Cameron Norrie sliding down with Hurkacz going in the same direction.
