Jannik Sinner opened up about his relationship with Darren Cahill who's been part of his team for a good while now.

Sinner enlisted the help of Darren Cahill to guide him to the next step which would be winning major trophies. Cahill fully believes that Sinner has what it takes as the Italian came close a couple of times. He played in the US Open semi-final last year losing to Alcaraz.

He played in the Wimbledon semi-final this year but lost to Djokovic and now he's looking ahead to this year's US Open. It's been a pretty good year for him, a couple of huge results but still no signature title. Beating Monfils in Toronto gets him closer to one and some of that credit goes to coach Cahill as well.

Cahill was very vocal from the stands during the match giving Sinner a very needed boost after he messed up the second set. After winning that match, Sinner praised his coach calling him one of the best in the world.

The relationship is going very well. Obviously, one of the best coaches in the world. You know, he has showed that with all different kind of players, mans and womens, different age of the player.  And it's, obviously, nice to have him with my team. I feel like the combination with him and Simone is going very well.

The increased tone from Cahill was actually something Sinner wanted from his coach as he wasn't feeling much support from the crowd. It ultimately worked as he won in three sets to advance to the semi-final of the Canadian Open.

I asked him today to push me a little bit more because the crowd was not against me, but they were a little bit more to Gaël's side. So you have to stick with the closest members, no? which is, obviously, your team. And he has shown me many, many things. Now it's late because -- I don't want to talk too much, but it's very, very important.
