Jannik Sinner's coach, Darren Cahill, thinks that the Italian player will be among the favourites to win the 2022 US Open.

The Italian player played strong tennis last year at the New York Slam, losing to Alexander Zverev in the fourth round of the final Grand Slam tournament of the season.

This year, Sinner showed overall improvement with his Wimbledon Championships run, impressing many of his fans. He gave Novak Djokovic a lot of trouble, but ultimately, the Serbian was able to win their exciting match.

With another major tournament right around the corner, Darren Cahill spoke about possible favorites. The experienced Australian coach thinks Sinner is finally maturing with his play style giving him chances to win the US Open even this year.

"Jannik is among those who can win the Slams. And I mean now, not in a year's time. Already at the US Open? He moves well on concrete and his play is powerful enough for that kind of surface."
"Because he is a very good guy, as well as a great player, and I like working with people like that. I'm not interested in the ranking, but in the person and the potential I see."

As a tennis coach, Cahill has seen all of the improvement that Sinner made, particularly under coach Riccardo Piatti who laid down the foundations, and more recently Simone Vagnozzi.

"His service is improving, such as the transition to the net and the game on the fly. He has made great progress in the last two years, first with Riccardo Piatti and then with Simone Vagnozzi."
"He has to think in perspective, knowing the kind of tennis he wants to play in two years and do everything to get there."

Although Sinner can undoubtedly win the 2022 US Open, there are many players that could say the same, and that's why the last major of the season will be incredibly exciting.
