Stefanos Tsitsipas is one of the younger generation of players who are trying to dethrone Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal from the top of tennis.
Dramatically bursting onto the scene in the tennis world, the Greek has won countless tournaments, with some of real significance.
His most notable achievements are winning two ATP Masters 1000 titles (Monte-Carlo Masters), the ATP Finals, and reaching the French Open final, and as a result many have him as their favorite to become the next new Grand Slam champion.
It was, in fact, against all-time great that he ended up losing his only-to-date Grand Slam final, with the Greek impressively taking a two sets to love lead against Djokovic in Paris.
This was not enough to overcome the great, however, and it has led many critics to question more than ever whether we will ever get a genuine group of players who will be able to not only match but beat Nadal and Djokovic.
For Tsitsipas, though, he believes that his generation is getting closer to their level, with it only being a matter of time before a real challenge is put to the two clear favorites at the top of the game.
"I think we're getting closer to them. Of course, they were the best generation of players in history, so it was not easy to make a breakthrough. But it was they who helped all of us raise the level of the game and reach a new level."
Tsitsipas also singled out Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz as having the best chance when it comes to beating or even replacing Nadal and Djokovic at the helm of men's tennis.
"In my opinion, Sinner and Alcaraz are ahead of the rest, but there are many young and dangerous players on the Tour. Tennis has a great future."
