Novak Djokovic made a lot of history yesterday but he made a bit more today by jumping from number 5 to number one in the rankings.

Every Monday brings us new ranking updates and on today's one, Novak Djokovic emerged as the number one again. The Serbian returned to the sport for the first time since losing it last year and he did it in style. Winning the Australian Open gave him the full slate of points (2000) which pushed him from five to one.

That's actually the biggest jump to number one since 1973, when the rankings were introduced. There have been a couple of players who jumped from number four to number one but never from number 5. Moya in 1999 went from 4 to 1, and Agassi in 1999 too. Sampras did it in 2000, Alcaraz did it in 2022 and now Djokovic proved better than all of them by doing it from number 5.

He's not the only mover on the ATP Rankings. As you can see on our dedicated rankings page there have been plenty of interesting moves. You can see how far Ben Shelton went in the rankings. You can also see in which spot Daniil Medvedev is currently, as he's out of the top 10 for the first time in four years.

Rafael Nadal is not in the top 5 anymore and there are plenty of more moves. Check all of them out on our dedicated rankings page.
