Daniil Medvedev's hands were shaking before he won the 2023 Miami Open and after the match he revealed why.
In the final match of the 2023 Miami Open, Medvedev defeated Jannik Sinner in straight sets and prior to the conclusion of the match, his hands were shaking. If fans didn't notice it, the Russian added a note on the camera after his win, writing: 'Shaky Hands'.
The former world no. 1 is used to winning titles and especially the big ones. In 2021, he lifted his only major when he defeated Novak Djokovic in the US Open final and surely stress is not a factor for an experienced player such as Medvedev. After the match, he spoke about his performance but also about the shaky hands.
"I'm really happy. Today was a tough match. It was probably the hottest day and the most humid during the day. It was not easy conditions. I don't know if Jannik had a small injury or cramp. I was also struggling, tried not to show it."
Following the victory, Medvedev admitted that he was thinking about the fact that he waited for an ATP 1000 title since his triumph in Toronto in 2021, but aid that his hands weren't shaking because of 'being scared to win'.
"I haven't won't such a big title in probably a year and a half. At the end I was quite shaky. Not even tight, because I'm not scared to win. But still the hands get a little shaky so the serve is a little bit tougher... I managed to get myself together and close the match."
