Sebastian Korda is continuing his winning run at the at the 2023 Winston-Salem Open, taking down Marton Fucsovics 7-6(5) 6-3.

Sebastian Korda was in dire need of wins after fighting an injury and struggling to get back to top level this year, and it seems to be going really well in Winston-Salem. He faced a really solid opponent, one that battled really well for much of the match, but it wasn't enough from the Hungarian to win the match.

The opening set was very close as it finished in the tiebreak. Both players had similar issues; they were really good behind the first serve but not so good behind the second set. Fucsovics was actually on top early in the match, having a 5-3 lead with a really good chance to close out the set.

He failed, allowing Korda to break back, and that was not ideal. In the tiebreak, it was pretty much all Korda who led from start to finish to win it 7-5. The second set continued in a similar manner as the players battled in a tightly contested match.

We didn't really see any chances for the first few games, but eventually, the pressure Korda put on his opponent worked well, and he took the break. However, he would pull a Fucsovics and lose his serve in the next game, complicating things for himself.

It didn't end up that complicated for Korda as he broke his opponent once more for the 5-3 lead, and this time around there were no mistakes. He finished it off with a strong service game. It was a really solid win for Korda, who needed a good run ahead of the US Open.

The final score here was 7-6(5) 6-3 behind a 23 winner and 10 unforced error performance. He is set to face the winner of the Brandon Nakashima - Richard Gasquet match next.
