Nick Kyrgios did not play a very good match against Hubert Hurkacz losing in three sets but the Polish player was quite happy about playing him.

Kyrgios played a lot of tennis recently and it left him quite fatigued and drained after so many matches. He rushed quite a bit in the match, especially after experiencing some back pain and discomfort opting to keep the points short and venturing out to the net as well.

Hurkacz won the opening set in a tiebreak but lost the 2nd in another tiebreak. He smashed Kyrgios in the final one as the Australian kind of gave up. It left him very happy about the result:

“Nick has been playing some incredible tennis throughout the past weeks, so it is a pleasure playing against him. I hope the fans enjoyed it as well, but I am happy with the result in the end.”

The injury to Kyrgios was something even Hurkacz could spot and he understood that it was an advantage. He also understood that it was a close match:

“I started really well. Nick was maybe a little bit injured, which might have hurt his serve. With both of us serving so well, that few per cent can make the difference.

Hurkacz is the only former ATP 1000 champion left in the draw.
