'I'm Hungry, He's Hungry Too, Let's Have A Feast': Djokovic On Alcaraz Final At Wimbledon

The 2023 Wimbledon Championships will see defending champion Novak Djokovic take on Carlos Alcaraz in the final on Sunday.

Novak Djokovic did what was expected of him and secured another appearance in the Wimbledon final. The win over Jannik Sinner sent him into his 5th consecutive final at the event, and he'll be hoping to make it 5/5 when it comes to winning the trophy in his last five appearances.

Alcaraz didn't really anticipate playing in the Wimbledon final when he touched down in London a few weeks ago but he's been quickly improving on the surface and it became a clear goal after his 1st round win at the event. It's likely the most anticipated Wimbledon final since the 2019 one and Djokovic himself recognizes that.

This is probably the most anticipated finals I guess from the beginning of the tournament, from most of the people. Alcaraz, myself... It will be his first finals in Wimbledon. He's so young, but he's incredibly consistent now, also on grass.

I don't think many people expected him to play so well because his game is basically, yeah, built and constructed and developed for clay mostly or slower hard courts. But he's been incredibly successful in adapting to the surfaces and demands and challenges of opponents on a given day.

Djokovic will feel very confident against Alcaraz in London but he'll certainly approach the match carefully. He did beat him in Paris recently though he got a bit lucky in that match as Alcaraz started to cramp right when he was starting to take control of the match. Djokovic might have won it regardless he seemed a bit in trouble at that point in the match.

When it comes to Alcaraz, the Serbian was very complimentary to the Spaniard, whom he considers the future of tennis and the ATP Tour. Somebody respectful with a great team and an ability to quickly improve, as he demonstrated on grass this year.

Kudos to him. Amazing player. Great guy also off the court. He carries himself very, very well. He respects the history of the sport, respects everyone. No bad words about him at all. His team, his family... I've seen him play in Queen's a little bit. Here he's been very impressive. I think he already developed a very accurate game on grass.

Djokovic praises Alcaraz

Djokovic expects a great battle between himself and Alcaraz because both are playing well at the moment and both are very hungry for the trophy. He jokingly referred to the final as a feast which is a nice word player on his preview for the final.

I think, judging by the performances that we have seen from all the players, I think this is probably the best finals that we could have. We are both in good form. We're both playing well.

I do have more experience playing in many more Grand Slam or Wimbledon finals than him. Still he's in great shape. He's very motivated. He's young. He's hungry. I'm hungry, too, so let's have a feast (smiling).

Djokovic looking forward to the final
