The 2025 Swiss Open in Gstaad will be among three tournaments on a busy first week after the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, and the prize money and ranking points for the event have been unveiled.
Although it will occur immediately after Wimbledon and face competition during the same week from the Bastad Open and the Los Cabos Open, many top players are on the entry list for the clay-court ATP 250 tournament.
World No. 3 Alexander Zverev will be the top seed unless Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner make a late decision to play, which is almost guaranteed not to happen. His announced involvement should boost ticket sales.
Zverev is set to compete on clay for the first time since losing in the 2025 Roland Garros quarterfinal against Novak Djokovic. The 2024 runner-up in Paris was unhappy with Boris Becker's criticism of his approach during that contest.
Three other Grand Slam finalists are on the entry list. Two-time Roland Garros runner-up and former Swiss Open champion Casper Ruud could be tough to stop. However, he needs to get himself fit first after withdrawing from the 2025 Mallorca Championships with an injury.
Matteo Berrettini and Marin Cilic are the other major finalists who have committed to the event in Gstaad. Berrettini won three clay-court titles in 2024 under Francisco Roig's guidance, but the pair split towards the end of last season.
One of Berrettini's 2024 titles came at the Swiss Open. He comprehensively defeated Quentin Halys in the final and then won the 2025 Austrian Open in Kitzbuhel the following week to confirm back-to-back titles and a 10-match winning streak.
The 2025 Swiss Open winner will receive €90,675 and 250 ranking points. Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem, Stefan Edberg, and Richard Gasquet are among the players who have won the tournament, which was first held over 100 years ago.
This year's Swiss Open runner-up's disappointment at losing the final in Gstaad might be eased by having €52,890 added to their bank account and 165 points to potentially move up the ATP rankings.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jan-Lennard Struff fell in the 2024 Swiss Open semifinals. €31,090 and 100 ranking points are the guaranteed rewards for the two defeated semifinalists at this year's iteration.
The prize money dips below €20,000 for the four men beaten in the 2025 Swiss Open quarterfinals. €18,015 and 50 points is still not bad for getting to that stage of the ATP 250 tournament.
If Zverev, Ruud, Berrettini, and Alexander Bublik, who produced a sensational performance to overcome Jannik Sinner at the 2025 Halle Open, do not withdraw, they will be the Top 4 seeds unless any higher-ranked players than Bublik receive a wild card.
The Top 4 seeds get a bye into the Swiss Open round of 16. That means those men are guaranteed to walk away from the tournament with at least €10,460 and 25 points before winning any matches.
If players like Zverev, Ruud, and Berrettini do not withdraw, this year's Swiss Open could be one of the best ATP 250 events of the 2025 season.
