While he might be electric on the court, Ben Shelton is pretty chill off the court, going as far as to call himself boring.
There are very few tennis players that are as electric as Ben Shelton is on a tennis court; however, off the court, the American is rather different as he admitted in a recent talk to ATP.
He likes to play attacking and in-your-face tennis, but off the court, he mostly keeps to himself and doesn't talk too much. It's a very interesting thing to observe though not that uncommon when it comes to sport.
Some athletes simply become a different person when they step on a tennis court, and Shelton is like that. He's been on a tear in Asia recently, winning multiple matches and securing his best-ever rank this coming Monday.
When it comes to his personality, though, Shelton shared what that looks like in a recent interview with the ATP.
I am pretty boring when I’m off the court, I don't like to talk too much. I kind of just keep my mouth shut, like to stay in my hotel room and be by myself. I don’t have too many friends but umm..I like to keep…— Shelton on his off-court personality <br>
No, uh.. I think my friends would describe me as someone who likes to make jokes, keep things light-hearted. I like having fun and just hanging out and being with people is what I enjoy the most.
It's not a terrible thing because what he does on the court is what is important. He's a very brutal competitor on the court and not shy in the big matches, which is a good place to be when facing the best. The way his career has gone so far he's certainly going to be one of the best for a very long time.
