Matteo Berrettini has been struggling a lot this year but the Italian revealed he's not worried about it.

Much has been said about Matteo Berrettini and his struggles this year with many people sharing their own thoughts on the situation. Some blamed it on a new relationship with others blaming it on a lack of practice time but the bottom line remained the same.

Nobody was really happy to see him struggle but he has a positive attitude about all of it. In an exclusive interview with Style Magazine, the Italian opened up about how he feels and disclosed that he's ready to come back stronger than before.

It’s not the best time of my career but I’m not worried: I’m sure I’ll reap the rewards of the work I’m doing. The last two years have been full of victories but also very tiring. The injuries, then, made me lose the pleasure of the game, because I was taking the court thinking I had to make up for lost time. Now I hope to recover the joy of playing tennis.

Berrettini really had a lot of success in the past two years with a few trophies and a grand slam final at Wimbledon. He set a pretty high standard for himself and he's not living up to it this year which is where much of the criticism stems from. Getting there will take work but he's embracing all of it knowing that he has what it takes.

His goal for this season is clear. He wants to make up with a good run on clay. Two events stick out in the calendar. The ATP 1000 Masters event in Rome as he's from Rome and it's his home event. The other is obviously Wimbledon, a place where he had al lot of success in the past.

Last year I had to skip the clay-court season and I would like to make up for it. The goal is to do well in the big tournaments: the ones I care about the most are the Internazionali d'Italia and Wimbledon.
