Carlos Alcaraz played his first two matches as world number 1 at the Davis Cup in Valencia and afterwards he said how he felt about it.

In his first two matches, the 2022 US Open got his first loss as world number 1 and also his first victory as the highest-ranked player in the world. Despite being virtually a favourite in every match he enters from now on, after beating Soonwoo Kwon, the Spaniard admitted that he didn't feel any pressure.

Previously, Daniil Medvedev shared how it feels like to be a world number 1, especially in regard to expectations from fans. However, it seems that Carlos Alcaraz sees the situation differently.

“I haven't felt it. I heard Medvedev say that he felt the pressure of being No. 1, that he thought it was going to be easier," Alcaraz said.

"In my case, maybe it's because I've played the Davis Cup and I had the warmth of all the people behind me, I didn't play alone, so it seemed easier to me. We will see in an individual tournament, when I am alone on court, how I handle that pressure.”

Speaking about rest of the season and his goals, the 19-years-old sensation clearly showed that he doesn't want to give up the no. 1 spot, when he said:

“Now I still have a few tournaments until the end of the season, but it is clear that one of my great goals is to win the ATP Finals and also the Davis Cup. Finishing the year as No. 1 in the world would also be nice; once I've gotten this far, the intention is to work to stay up there for as long as possible,” Alcaraz said.
