Felix Auger-Aliassime grew up around tennis as his father is a tennis coach who is still active around the game.

That close connection to the sport was vital for him to pick up a racquet as both he and his sister ended up taking up tennis. From the early goings of his childhood, Auger-Aliassime dreamt about tennis and he's made it a reality.

Growing up back in Montreal, Canada was a great upbringing. My dad was a tennis coach and still is today, so he brought tennis into the family for my sister and I. So we grew up playing tennis every day after school. I had this dream of, I guess, being in the position I am today.

Auger-Aliassime on picking up tennis

Being a tennis player is pretty tricky as you're essentially alone. There are tons of people around you but on the court you are alone. The way for him to deal with that is to remain positive and think of the bigger picture.

You’re alone out there on the court. There’s only one guy that lifts the trophy, that leaves the tournament undefeated. It toughens your skin a lot. What’s always been very important for me is to have the big picture. I think that’s helped my mental health tremendously. Try to always stay positive and look at how you can use those challenges to improve.
