Roger Federer's adoration for Mercedes Benz automobiles has been well documented and the company awarded him with a special honour recently.
Federer, who recently announced his retirement from tennis, has been granted the opportunity to create a unique vehicle that will also have his emblem. On November 26, the car will be put up for auction, with the proceeds going to a charitable tennis initiative in London.
Federer enjoyed a great deal of success in London over the years, both at SW19 and the O2 Arena, where he bid farewell to tennis. The auction will take place at Motorworld München in Munich on November 26. The final bid is expected to fall between $200,000 and $250,000.
Mercedes USA shared a video with the Swiss Maestro next to the car with a caption stating: "With his glittering career as a professional tennis player that spanned more than 24 years, Roger Federer has left a legacy – and he’s ready to do it again, along with Mercedes Benz."
"The first result of the joint initiative “Neon Legacy”? A one-off special edition in neon yellow, a color that honors Roger’s extraordinary career by paying homage to the yellow felt of tennis balls."
Federer's most recent activity came on social media when he congratulated the Swiss team on winning the Billie Jean King Cup. He wrote:
"History made! Congrats ladies on an incredible week. Hopppp Schwiiiz."
