Novak Djokovic is not just a great tennis player but actively participates in many causes to help those at a disadvantage.
One such way he offers a helping hand is through his own foundation, the Novak Djokovic Foundation, which he co-founded in 2008 with his wife, Jelena Djokovic. Their central mission is to ensure that every child in Serbia has access to pre-school education by 2030.
Djokovic is a big believer that early childhood education goes a long way to help children lead a more fulfilling life. As such, he has been on the frontline of the philanthropy parade back home. In the past year alone, the 36-year-old did some amazing work on multiple projects.
He helped refurbish an elementary school in a Serbian village called Rvati last December during the annual fundraiser for the foundation. Also in 2023, the 24-time Grand Slam champion unveiled a new clothing collection named 'Pure Collection' on the foundation's website.
The proceeds of the merchandise, which was manufactured to celebrate Djokovic's achievements, would go directly into funding the foundation's projects. On Saturday, Djokovic's foundation revealed that they will build a kindergarten in Rvati to accommodate 60 children.
A total of €87,111 was raised, and as has been the norm, Djokovic and Jelena joined forces to match the contribution amount, taking the final tally to €174,222.
"Every child deserves their place in a kindergarten, and with your and our help, 60 children from the Rvati village in Raska will get their own kindergarten and the opportunity to grow up in a safe and stimulating environment. In the sixth Season of Giving, we raised 87,111 euros."— The foundation posted on Instagram
"As in past years, the donations were doubled by our founders, Novak and Jelena Djokovic, meaning that a total of 174,222 euros will be used for the kindergarten’s construction, repair, and equipment. Our initial goal was the kindergarten in Rvati, and since we exceeded it, we are happy to be able to donate more money to preschools all around Serbia."
