After winning his maiden Grand Slam title in the Flushing Meadows, Carlos Alcaraz flew directly to Valencia to help the Spanish Davis Cup team in Group B.
Spain is set to face Serbia, Canada and Korea but the 19-years-old Spaniard who is ranked as world number 1 in the ATP Rankings won't compete against Serbia in the first tie for his country at the 2022 Davis Cup. When he arrived to Spain, Carlos Alcaraz said:
"I’m very proud to arrive as No. 1 and do my bit for the team. Playing the Davis Cup is always special, it's a unique atmosphere and I'm looking forward to being with the team," said Alcaraz in Valencia.
However, also the Serbian team misses their biggest star, Novak Djokovic and so also lower-ranked players will get to represent their country.
First match of the tie will be played between Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Laslo Djere before team no. 1s Roberto Bautista Agut and Miomir Kecmanovic fight for the second point. If the score is tied, Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez will play against Nikola Cacic and Miomir Kecmanovic.
