Nick Kyrgios is a pretty famous tennis player, even though his name is rarely at the top of the rankings; like any famous person, he too has haters.
Nick Kyrgios has been a very open book for much of his career on the ATP Tour. He didn't always talk about the most personal things but recently made a concentrated effort to be as transparent as possible to order to clear some of the misconceptions that bothered him earlier in his career.
One of those is being portrayed as the bad boy of tennis, something that has hurt him on a personal level which he spoke about in the past. All he ever wanted to prove is that he belongs, and after doing that last year, Kyrgios finally seems to be at peace with himself.
There were plenty of demons that needed to be exorcized in the meantime, and he's been able to do that with the help of his family. In a recent interview, Kyrgios opened up about the hate he regularly gets, including the racism.
It's been something that's followed him for much of his career and by now he's found great ways to combat that. He was also recently asked by a fan how he deals with hate, and he simply responded by doing what he loves to do while 'they watch'.
I can take care of my family, my partner and continue to do anything I want in this life... whilst they watch.
It's a pretty good method from the Australian who has never been shy to talk about what he believes. He's currently away from the sport due to a wrist injury but will be in Los Angeles for the Ultimate Tennis Showdown. He'll coach his good friend Frances Tiafoe through the exhibition.
