Carlos Alcaraz has been compared to Rafael Nadal by Novak Djokovic due to the intensity he brings to the court.
Novak Djokovic will face Carlos Alcaraz in the Roland Garros semi-final after they both won their quarter-final matchups. Djokovic dropped one set against Khachanov but rallied to win in four sets. On the other hand, the Spaniard dominated in his quarterfinal match against Stefanos Tsitsipas.
He's been spectacular so far at this event living up to his own description of himself as a complete player. John McEnroe bestowed upon him quite a description earlier in the event and with every passing day he is proving him right. Djokovic himself compared him to Nadal especially when it comes to the intensity he brings on the court.
Well, he carries himself very well.No doubt very nice guy on and off the court. Brings a lot of intensity on the court. Reminds me of someone from his country that plays with a left hand (smiling). He deserves his success, no doubt. He's working hard, and he very a complete player already and only age 20.
Djokovic and Alcaraz only played once so far on the ATP Tour and it happened last year in Madrid. The Spaniard won in three sets but this one is the one everyone is anticipating. It's the match people want to see because Alcaraz is a lot better than last year and Djokovic is, well the 22-time Grand Slam champion.
So we played only once in Madrid last year, 7-6 in the third for him. We haven't played since. Yeah, you're right, most of the tournaments this year we were not in the same draw but here we are. If it comes to that match, that's the match that, you know, a lot of people want to see.
It's definitely the biggest challenge for me, you know, so far in the tournament. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. He'sdefinitely a guy to beat here. I'm looking forward to that.
