Alcaraz Learns New Partner For Hopman Cup After Badosa Withdraws

Carlos Alcaraz learned his new partner for the 2023 Hopman Cup after Paula Badosa was forced to withdraw.

This year will see the return of the Hopman Cup as the event will be played after Wimbledon in Nice, and Carlos Alcaraz will take part. The event will be played between July 19th and July 23rd in the south of France at the Nice Tennis Club and it will see teams of two players compete in singles and mixed doubles.

Spain is one of the nations that will take part in the event, and Carlos Alcaraz signed up earlier this year to represent his country. He was supposed to be joined by Paula Badosa at the event to form a very formidable pairing but the Spaniard pulled out of the event. Badosa saw her Wimbledon run be impacted by an injury as she retired against Marta Kostyuk last week.

She's now officially out of the Hopman Cup, as the event announced the news on social media on July 12th. Alcaraz didn't have to wait long to find out his partner as Rebeka Masarova, a rising Spanish talent, signed up to replace Badosa.

They will now represent their country in the newly resurrected Hopman Cup against some solid teams from other nations. We'll see them compete on Friday, July 21st against Belgium. The Belgian team consists of David Goffin and Elise Mertens.

Then, Spain will play Croatia on July 22nd. Croatia is bringing Donna Vekic and Borna Coric to the event and then we'll see the finals which will be played on Sunday. Besides Alcaraz, we'll also see his longtime rival Holger Rune at the event.

Rune is looking forward to playing with Clara Tauson as they essentially grew up together on Tour and represent the new generation of Danish tennis in hopes of inspiring a new one. He shared his excitement about participating in the iconic event earlier this year.
