The 2022 World Tennis League in Dubai will feature some of the top ATP & WTA players in the world from December 19 through December 24.
The World Tennis League is a brand-new competition that will take place at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai over the course of six days and include 18 elite athletes. The opening and closing ceremonies will be handled by Tiësto and Armin Van Buren, but the ATP and WTA players who have signed up make the event even more interesting.
Four teams have been drawn as The Kites, The Hawks, The Falcons and The Eagles will compete in Dubai. All teams are fairly different and have different strengths as the event should feature ATP, WTA and mixed doubles matches.
The Kites will be led by world no. 1 in the WTA Rankings, Iga Swiatek. She will be joined by 2014 Wimbledon champion, Eugenie Bouchard and three-time doubles Grand Slam champion, Sania Mirza. Two ATP players in this team will be Felix Auger-Aliassime and Gael Monfils.
The Hawks are led by Alexander Zverev, who is returning from an injury and his very good friend and player he lost to in the 2020 US Open final, Dominic Thiem. This year's Wimbledon champion, Elena Rybakina will take care of WTA matches alongside former world no. 2, Anett Kontaveit.
The 21-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic will be the biggest star in The Falcons. Grigor Dimitrov will join him for men's matches as Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa will take care of women's.
The Eagles bring in an interesting line-up as well. This year's Wimbledon finalist, Nick Kyrgios will be joined by the 2019 US Open champion, Bianca Andreescu. Doubles specialist, Rohan Bopanna will be part of the team too with Caroline Garcia and Andreas Seppi, who recently retired from professional tennis.
"The Greatest Show on Court" as tournament organizers describe it will certainly bring a great show to Dubai and the drawn teams just prove enormous quality of this event.
