WATCH: WTA Finals Venue Yet To Be Complete Days Before Start

The WTA Finals in Cancun were supposed to be such a great event, but that seems in doubt as the event's venue is yet to be completed a few days before the tournament is supposed to start.

The WTA is struggling, according to many reports. It's been a mess for a while, but this year's problems have certainly put the mess into the spotlight. Many were critical of the way the Shuai Peng situation was handled.

Many complained about the Tour's calendar handling. On top of that, we didn't know where the WTA Finals would be played just two months before the event, and that's unacceptable according to players.

Elena Rybakina tore into the WTA over their scheduling issues at the event. The WTA Finals were ultimately announced in Cancun, which isn't a bad place to be because the Mexican tennis crowd can be quite supportive, as the Guadalajara Finals edition showed.

The problem is of another nature: the venue is not yet completed, and we're less than a week away from the event. A video posted on social media shows the venue under construction with only a handful of days left, and that's really surprising, given the other options that the WTA had.

The players would have probably liked to have it finished so they could practice. Maybe? Iga Swiatek is already in Cancun arriving early and she probably wasn't inspired by what she saw.

It boggles the mind, but here we are, and you can't sit and think that the late announcement had something to do with it, especially when it's a place not known for staging a tennis event, which also doesn't help.

Although the venue is yet to be completed, the 2023 WTA Finals can still be a spectacular event, and that's thanks to the players who will compete there. Hopefully, everything turns out fine. Check out the venue below.
