Elina Svitolina is a mother now and while tennis is still one of her priorities it is no longer her biggest priority.

The Ukranian tennis player made a comeback to the sport she loves recently playing in Charleston and Chiasso. She's in Oeiras this week hoping to play herself into a good rhythm as she hopes to tackle the Roland Garros next month. It's been an interesting two years for the player who experienced quite a few things in that time.

She participated in the Tokyo Olympics earning a medal for her country which she counts as one of her proudest achievements. She saw her country invaded at a time when she was supposed to avoid any kind of stress as she was pregnant. It was a lot to take in and it certainly shifted her perspective.

I would like to spend all my time with Skai and share every moment with her. But I decided to return to competition and focus on my tennis. I don't know how many more seasons I will play.

It read as a hint to early retirement and that is exactly what it was. Her further comments in the same interview highlighted that she's focused on tennis presently wanting to achieve some specific things before retiring. She also knows what her immediate tennis schedule looks like and she shared that too.

There are some milestones I would like to achieve before retiring. In the near future I am clear about my plans in the term. I will play an ITF tournament in Oeiras, Portugal, then I will rest for a week and then I will play a WTA 125 in Saint-Malo. In May I will use the protected ranking to play the WTA 1000 in Rome, then Strasbourg and finally Roland Garros.
