It seemed that Sofia Kenin's rise might start during the grass-court season, but the young American postponed her comeback once again.

After winning the 2022 Australian Open and rising to the fourth place of the WTA Rankings, Sofia Kenin fought with injuries and lack of form as she lost more matches than she won during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

This season, she played 8 matches and after winning the first two in Adelaide, she lost the following 6 and won only 1 set out of 13 she played. Then, she stopped after her loss in Indian Wells and is yet to return back to the WTA Tour since.

Currently, Kenin is ranked outside of Top 300 and will have a hard time coming back to the top as she will find it difficult to get into some of the tournaments. After she has decided to skip the tournament in Nottingham, she also won't play in Eastbourne and Wimbledon and her drop in the rankings will continue. After the third Grand Slam of the year, Kenin will find herself out of Top 400.
