Serena Williams is already in London, ahead of the 23-time Grand Slam champion's much-anticipated return to tennis during the grass court season.
The legendary American has been sorely missed during her time on the sidelines. Every tournament is better with the biggest names in the sport involved, and there are none more significant than the 40-year-old.
Williams' last appearance was almost 12 months ago at last year's Wimbledon Championships. During her first-round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich, she injured her right leg after slipping on the lush grass courts at SW19.
That problem has kept her away from the sport ever since. But Williams announced a few days ago she was finally returning to tennis and that she would be competing at Wimbledon a year after her injury at the tournament.
Excitement among Williams' fans has been very high since that announcement, and that will only rise further after the seven-time Wimbledon champion posted a video on social media of her in London.
In the video that can be seen below, Williams is with her daughter Olympia. She confirms her presence in England's capital city by saying, "Welcome to London," while standing outside her car.
Williams then shows a clip of Olympia beside her during a drive. She engages in some dialogue about her daughter's doll and seems in a very relaxed mood throughout the video.
Interestingly, Williams' comeback event will not be in London. She is set to play doubles at the Eastbourne International the week before Wimbledon in preparation for the third Grand Slam of the year.
Eastbourne is only about a two-hour drive away from London. Therefore, Williams and her team have ample time to reacquaint themselves with the city before going to Eastbourne. Hopefully, going to London early will help get Williams into the right frame of mind ahead of her return to tennis.
