Aryna Sabalenka is planning to have a big party to celebrate her second Grand Slam trophy won at the 2024 Australian Open.
The Belarusian is a two-time Grand Slam champion after his most recent win in Melbourne. Sabalenka was desperate to prove herself more than a one-hit wonder and did so at this year's Australian Open by easily beating Qinwen Zheng in two sets, 6-3, 6-2.
It was a culmination of a great two weeks of tennis in Melbourne, where Sabalenka proved by far the best out of all players. She basically didn't face any problems in the two weeks she was there.
She plans to celebrate it well this time around, revealing to Eurosport that a big party with her team is planned to mark the achievement.
"Yes it will be a big party, last time the wife of my agent twisted her ankle! This time we’ll make sure no one gets injured and celebrate it."
The Belarusian was obviously happy about her triumph because it was the major number two, and now she could go for number three. Winning the first Grand Slam was extremely hard for Sabalenka and took years, but as many players can attest, winning the second is not less hard.
She got it done one year later and couldn't be more happier about it.
"I’m super happy, I couldn’t have imagined myself winning one Grand Slam, let alone winning twice in a row and it’s just crazy. I’m still trying to process it, I’m just super happy and super proud. My brain isn’t working!"
We'll see what 2024 has in store for her and whether she can add a couple more. She played really well last year, winning the Australian Open, but even though she was consistent for the remainder of the season, she couldn't add another one.
