Sinner Confirms Parents Will Not Travel To Watch His Australian Open Final

Jannik Sinner will contest the 2024 Australian Open final on Sunday, but his parents won't be there to support him in person.

Sinner will contest the 2024 Australian Open final, his first Grand Slam final, and as such, it's obviously a very special match. He's taking on Daniil Medvedev in what has looked like a very favorable matchup for him in the past few months.

There is a pretty realistic chance that he actually wins the event as he's favored, and that's a lifelong memory. Having his parents there would be quite special, of course, but the Italian confirmed that it won't happen as they're going to remain home.

"[My parents] are back home and they will stay home.Yeah, it is 8:15 in Europe. So, good morning, guys. But not only to my family, I think for for all the people who are close to me and then also all the Italian fans, it's always really nice to…"

It is a very long trip from Italy, and it's not really practical for his parents to come for a couple of days. His parents generally don't travel much to watch him play, so it's not unusual for him.

There are plenty of Italians in Australia who make him feel at home, and he called on them to come support on Sunday.

"We try our best because we have also the men's doubles in the final here, with Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. So it's good to have some more Italians. I really appreciate the love and the support not only for home, but also here in the stadium, which is awesome. And hope to see you guys on Sunday."

We'll see what happens on Sunday, but there is a pretty good chance that Sinner will show up at the same level he had against Novak Djokovic. If that happens, there is a good chance he will win his maiden Grand Slam final.
