Iga Swiatek recently slammed the US Open for using lighter balls for women than for men what according to world number 1 leads to more mistakes by women.

Players on the WTA Tour often feel like they are treated differently than their colleagues on the ATP Tour. The difference in prize money is often discussed and now, the 2-time Roland Garros champion, Iga Swiatek brought up a topic of lighter tennis balls at the US Open.

"Honestly, I don’t like them. I have heard many players actually complaining, as well. Women players because we have different balls than men,” Swiatek said. "The thing is that they are lighter. They fly like crazy."

"We have really powerful games right now. It’s not like 10 years ago. Right now we play powerful, and we kind of can’t loosen up our hands with these balls. I know that many players complain, and many of them are top 10," world no. 1 continued.

The young Pole found support among many of her colleagues, including world number four, Paula Badosa. The Spaniard shared the part of Swiatek's interview on her Instagram stories and added also her opinion, when she stated:

"Strongly agree. Very unfavourable conditions for the players and for the show. Then we complain that there are many mistakes and the tactics and intelligence in the points have been lost. Faster courts and balls IMPOSSIBLE to control."
