Ons Jabeur contested yet another Grand Slam final at Wimbledon this year and once again the Tunisian came up in the final match.
Jabeur has been dreaming about winning a Grand Slam all her life and she's come fairly close a couple of times in recent years. Last year's Wimbledon Championships probably saw her come closest as she was only one set away from actually winning the trophy.
Rybakina turned around that match, and Jabeur had to try and win it at another time. She got a chance at the US Open but was beaten by Iga Swiatek. Her next chance came this year at Wimbledon, but despite being the favourite to win, Jabeur faltered once more.
It was a painful loss for her, as she explained after the match, and it was a painful loss for her husband Karim Kamoun as well. He wrote a message on social media explaining how it looked from his vantage point, admitting to crying like a baby following the loss.
Yes this one was painful, Yes this one was really tough, Yes this one made me cry like a baby, it’s ok to show emotions, emotions are the fuel that will make you stronger, wiser and I’m pretty sure that we are on the right path, it’s coming you just need to believe and keep working hard.
He also expressed great pride in what his wife was able to do once more at the event thanking her team for the effort as well.
I’m very proud of you @onsjabeur , thank you @issamtennis for your unbelievable work and commitment, thank you @melanie.maillard1 for your care. Dream big, Believe big
Jabeur will have a chance at the US Open to try again as the Tunisian remains hell-bent on winning a Grand Slam trophy.
