Rising star Mirra Andreeva might be only 16 years old but she has big plans for her tennis future aiming to win 25 grand slams.
Andreeva has been known as a talent for a while but her impressive run recently in Madrid as a 15-year-old stunned many. First, she downed Leylah Fernandez in her first big upset as a 15-year-old. She then stunned a top 20 player Haddad Maia, to further prove herself until she lost Aryna Sabalenka.
She turned 16 before that Sabalenka clash but nothing changed. She's still an awesome player earning her first grand slam win recently. She followed that up with another solid win, one that secured her top 100 debut. Much like her older sister Erika, Mirra is a dreamer and she has a big one that she's not afraid to share.
The dream. I know that Djokovic,he did 22 Grand Slams or 23, so I want to go until 25, if it will be possible. I don't know.But I will just play. For now my goal is to win match by match, to win next match. Then if I win this match, to win next match again. That's it. Just to win match by match
Dreaming big is important if you actually want to achieve but focusing on the next match is a far more healthy way of looking at things. Andreeva is doing both right now and that's not by coincidence. She's looked up to the big three for much of her life.
Roger, he always been my idol. He's always been my No. 1, but after Roland Garros2022 when Rafa, he won it, I don't know why, but in my head everything is turned. Now Rafa and Roger, they're in the first place, but I don't want to offend Novak.(Laughing.) So let's say they're three on the first place.
