The 21-year-old Canadian hasn't played any match since October 2021, but Bianca Andreescu is back and showed her qualities in the first round of the 2022 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
Returning after being away from the courts for so long is never easy. But the 2019 US Open champion handled the pressure well when she defeated Jule Niemeier in the first round of the 2022 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
Earlier in Stuttgart, Bianca Andreescu admitted that she considered quitting tennis. However, she has decided against it, and fans can be happy to see the young Canadian back on the courts again.
In her first match of the 2022 season, she faced Jule Niemeier in Stuttgart at the WTA 500 tournament there, the 2022 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, which is always attended by the best of the best on the women's Tour.
But the Canadian didn't start the match well as she was a break down since the beginning and found herself facing a set point while being 5-3 down in the first set.
However, Andreescu never gave up and managed to take the opening set into a tie-break, where she showed that she was the better player. In the tie-break, she completely turned the set around to win it in the tie-break 7-5.
In the second set, we saw Andreescu as we're used to seeing her from her victory runs when she won 79% of the points after her first serve and got two breaks in the set to win it 6-3 and set up a second-round clash with Aryna Sabalenka.
It was a very important win for the Canadian against the German wild card, but the second-round match with the second-seeded Sabalenka may be even more important as it will show Andreescu how good her level really is at the moment.
