Mirra Andreeva returned in flashy style to clay, destroying Dayana Yastremska in two sets to book the second round of the 2023 Lausanne Open.

Andreeva proved herself earlier his year on clay with a strong run both in Madrid and at the Roland Garros. It was surprising because she's a 16-year-old but quite expected as clay is her best surface and the one she likes the most.

What she did at Wimbledon was far more surprising as she admitted to feeling a bit shaky on the surface after she arrived in London. Even so, she won a couple of matches and nearly booked the second week, which is impressive as it also booked a spot in the Top 100 on the WTA Tour.

Now she's back on clay and things are looking pretty standard which is a crazy way to describe a 16-year-old taking out experienced players. The first set against Yastremska was a shellacking; there is no other way to explain it.

She won it 6-0, losing only a couple of points on serve and not giving a single break point to Yastremska. The Ukranian plays a very aggressive playstyle with a lot of hitting, but she couldn't hit through Andreeva. That's a common problem for many players who face her.

Yastremska had better success in the second set as she was able to break Andreeva a couple of times. The problem was keeping her own service, which still didn't happen. By the time the clocks hit 60 minutes, Yastremska was still without a won service game.

She was 0/6 at the time with the score being 5-2 in the second set for Andreeva. It's a brutal demonstrator of how much trouble she had with Andreeva. The Russian closed it for the final score of 6-0, 6-2. She didn't allow Yastremska to win a single service game. The Ukranian went 0/7 on service games. Incredible.
