Andreescu Remains Confident About Becoming World No. 1

by Sebastian Dahlman

Bianca Andreescu hasn't had much success in tennis since winning the US Open years ago, but she's confident about returning to her best.

Andreescu has had a very tough time since she won the US Open in 2019. Whether it was because of injuries or struggles with form, she took a break from tennis, the constant remained the same.

She's not getting the type of results she's used to. It didn't kill her motivation, though, as she's quite certain of success if she puts in the required work.

She doesn't mind training or practicing and fully believes that it will work out once more. Confidence has never been an issue for Andreescu, as she revealed during an event in Romania during the launch of her book.

Of course I'm thinking about performances like winning the US Open. I have a lot of confidence in myself and the quality of my tennis game, and I'm convinced that yes, it will happen soon. World No. 1 remains my goal and I hope that at the Games Olympics in 2024 to achieve great things.

Born in Canada to Romanian parents, Andreescu opted to play for the country of her birth. She doesn't actively follow Romanian tennis, but she does know of players from the country.

Simona Halep is obviously the most known, but she's familiar with the other players from the country as well. She talked about Halep's suspension as well.

It would have been nice to play for Romania, but I was born in Canada and I can't comment much about Romanian tennis. I don't know, maybe that will happen. I met Simona Halep a long time ago in Canada.

I would like to train with Sorana Cirstea, with Mihaela Buzarnescu or Simona Halep. Let's see what will happen to her when she returns to the field. I can't comment on anything that happened to her, it's something very personal.
