Carlos Alcaraz chose a tournament that he will use to prepare for the Wimbledon Championships in 2025.
In 2025, the young Spaniard, who will turn 22 during that season, will have to defend multiple titles. He will be defending champion at four events, two of which are Grand Slams.
His first title defense will come during the Sunshine Double at the Indian Wells Open, and a few months later, he will defend his maiden French Open title at Roland Garros.
With a short turnaround, players will move to grass courts, and Alcaraz will attempt to defend his Wimbledon title for the second consecutive year to win three consecutive Wimbledon Championships, something only the likes of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Pete Sampras, and Bjorn Borg managed to do.
To prepare for that tournament, Alcaraz already chose a tournament that he will participate in. Traditionally, there are not many options during the very short grass season, with only six tournaments held on the green surface before Wimbledon.
The young Spaniard avoids the first week of the grass-court part of the season, as he usually does well at Roland Garros. That means he won't compete at the Libema Open in Den Bosch, and he will also skip the Stuttgart Open in Germany.
He will probably also miss the tournaments in the last week of grass preparations, held in Mallorca and Eastbourne, as Alcaraz once again chose the second week with two ATP 500 tournaments.
After participating at the Cinch Championships, also known as the Queen's Club Championships, in the past two seasons, Alcaraz chose this tournament to start his grass season in 2025 again.
He won the event in 2023 but lost already in the second round this year. In 2025, he will hope to once again return to the winners' circle, as he expressed his delight to return to the Queen's Club in a statement for the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).
"I can’t wait to get back on the grass at The Queen’s Club next summer. Lifting the title two years ago is what gave me the belief to go on and win Wimbledon for the first time, so it always means a lot to compete there."
Alcaraz showed that he's also aware of the history of the event, as he named former multiple-time champions of the tournaments the list of players that he aims to join in 2025.
"I’m ready to come back again in 2025 and give it my all to try and win another trophy. I want to join amazing players like (Andy) Murray, (Feliciano) Lopez, (Andy) Roddick, etc, in winning this title multiple times, and I’m confident that I can achieve that."
"I love playing in front of the fans in London, the LTA puts on a great event and I hope I can have another successful summer in the UK."
The 2025 Cinch Championships will start on June 16th, with the Wimbledon Championships then starting two weeks later on June 30th, 2025.
