Andy Murray likes to play on grass and he proved it once again at the 2022 Newport Open when he destroyed Sam Querrey in just 55 minutes.

It's been sixteen years since Andy Murray competed at the Newport Open. The last time the experienced Scot played the post-Wimbledon tournament, he was the first-seeded and reached the semifinals. Now, he faces a much different situation when he wants to win his first title in 3 years.

Moreover, former world number 1 is aware that the end of his career is nearing and that every tournament he plays might be the last opportunity to lift a trophy.

"It's obviously amazing to be back here and playing on this court again after 16 years. A lot has happened in that time: four kids, married and all that stuff. But I'm happy to be back. It was so breezy and really difficult... but we're doing the best we can given the conditions."

"Any match that I get to play now I try to make the most of it. I've obviously had a lot of issues with injuries the last four or five years. You never know how close you are to the end, but I'm aware I'm getting towards the end of my career so I make the most of every match and every tournament I get to play now."
