Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray is aware that his career could be coming to an end at any moment.

Despite having reached the peak of his career, the Brit still loves playing on grass, with the Newport Open recently giving him the chance to showcase he still has what it takes.

Seeing off American Sam Querrey in less than an hour, Murray let the tennis world know that he is not on the ATP Tour just to make up the numbers.

This will come as no surprise to the Murray faithful however, with the grass court season long being one of his favourite periods of the calendar year.

Coming back to the Newport Open for the first time in 16 years, Murray has been through a lot in his successful career. However, his return to the North American grass may be his last.

Speaking post-match, the Scot mentioned that he realizes that he is on borrowed time, explaining how no one can guarantee how long they will be able to play for.

"It's obviously amazing to be back here and playing on this court again after 16 years. A lot has happened in that time: four kids, married and all that stuff. But I'm happy to be back. It was so breezy and really difficult... but we're doing the best we can given the conditions."

Going on to speak about what remains for him in the world of professional tennis, Murray is focused on enjoying whatever opportunities and events he has the chance to play in.

"Any match that I get to play now I try to make the most of it. I've obviously had a lot of issues with injuries the last four or five years. You never know how close you are to the end, but I'm aware I'm getting towards the end of my career so I make the most of every match and every tournament I get to play now."
