Novak Djokovic opened the first tennis courts in the Bosnian Pyramids Nature Park in Visoko with several exhibition matches.
The Serbian visited the complex for the first time last year weeks before Roland Garros after reading about it online. Considering Bosnia borders his native Serbia it was a short trip for him and he quickly became enamoured by the Nature Park that is located between three 'supposed pyramids'.
The Serbian later credited the visit for his 2021 Roland Garros triumph and since then he's been visiting it every couple of months. Today, he opened the first two tennis courts built in the complex which were originally his idea as he envisions it as a great place for regional tennis players to practice and recharge.
A deeply spiritual person, Djokovic spoke to local media at length about the recharging effects he feels while visiting as he plans to build a vacation home there as well. Today he was joined by regional tennis players, 5x-time grand slam doubles champion Ivan Dodig who was born in Bosnia & Herzegovina as well as Slovene Aljaz Bedene and a couple of others.
Djokovic also explained he wants to create a yearly event in order to celebrate tennis. He plans on playing every year while he's an active player and hosting some of the best in the world. Check out some of the atmosphere below.
