For the first time in 11 years, two American players will be in the Top 10 on the ATP Tour as Frances Tiafoe is set to join Taylor Fritz.

American tennis history is long as the country produced many legendary players, some born in the United States like the McEnroe brothers, Pete Sampras, Chris Evert, and many others while some that adopted the flag like Martina Navratilova and Monica Seles. In the past two decades though, US tennis hasn't been what it used to be, at least on the men's side.

It's been better in recent years with the likes of Fritz, Tiafoe, Korda, Paul and others. Taylor Fritz was the first of those to make a huge breakthrough as he won the 2022 Indian Wells Masters by beating Rafael Nadal in the final. He kept the level high throughout the year ending up at the ATP Finals among the world's best.

He'll now have a running buddy in Frances Tiafoe as the American won the Stuttgart Open to seal his Top 10 debut. The American has always been a very talented player but things never quite clicked for him until recently. His US Open run last year was very impressive as he came very close to a US Open final.

That confidence that he found at last year's event carried into this year and he's already up to two trophies this year along with some other great results. It's been a good time for American tennis and just in time for the US Open which will come along in a few months.

The last time there were two American players in the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings was back in 2012 when Mardy Fish and John Isner were ranked inside the top 10. Time will tell if we see two Americans at the ATP Finals later this year but the country's tennis is trending upward.
